Future Student

Dear future student,

At the moment, you are probably almost finishing your high school life and hopefully, you have started to think about what you want to do in the future. Where does your passion lie and what do you want to know more about? What subjects draw your interest and where lies your talent?

This is the website of study association Kraket, which is the study association of the studies Econometrics & Operations Research and Econometrics and Data Science at the VU University in Amsterdam.

What is a study association and what does it do?

A study association is an association for students from a certain study, in our case this study is Econometrics. Often, a study association takes care of the sale of study books. Additionally, a study association organizes different activities and events. There are fun activities to get to know each other better, like a beerpong- or kart tournament. This way, you will meet students of different years, which makes it easier to ask them questions about the study. Apart from informal activities, formal activities are organized as well. When attending these formal events, you get into contact with all sorts of companies and maybe even your future employer. Furthermore, you can become an active member of Kraket by joining a committee!

Your choice of study is of extreme importance for your future. Simply put, it determines what you are going to be doing for most of your life! Luckily, your choice doesn’t determine everything. You still have the possibility to choose a direction within the study by choosing certain subjects over others.

What can we offer you?

We think it is important to give correct and useful information for those planning to choose a study. That is why we always like to invite new people to look around the university and in particular our lectures for a day or part of the day, so that you get a clear impression of the university and we can answer all of your questions.

Are you interested in the study Econometrics & Operations Research or Econometrics and Data Science? Do you want to visit us to see how things work here? Send an email to info@kraket.nl

Introduction Days and Texel Weekend

After having applied to the study Econometrics & Operations Research, many exciting things are planned for you! First of all, the VU Introduction Days are organized at the end of August. All new bachelor students of the VU can participate in this big event. Luckily, you are immediately put into groups with Econometrics & Operations Research students only. These days are meant to let new students get to know other students, the university and the city of Amsterdam. During the day and the evening, a varied programme is organized including sports, cultural activities, parties and other fun stuff to do together with your new yearmates.

More information on the Introduction Days can be found here.

In the weekend before the start of the first term, the Introduction Weekend takes place. This weekend is organized for first years only, with the guidance of a number of older year's students. It will be a relaxing weekend with enough time to get to know your new yearmates very well. Teachers will come by as well to tell everything you want to know about what is ahead of you and you can always ask anything to the older year's students.
