The job in a nutshell 
Risk Management & Compliance (FRM) is responsible for fulfilling the second line risk function within Aegon Netherlands. The department develops and manages the company-wide risk and control framework, which is an integrated whole of all material risks within Aegon NL. Within this domain, FRM is responsible to manage the financial risks. 

As a Junior Financial Risk Manager you are responsible for monitoring of all financial risks within Aegon Netherlands. You assess if these risks are within our risk appetite and take the appropriate actions to mitigate the risks when needed. The focus of your work is on the insurance entities of Aegon Netherlands. You actively participate in discussions and advise management accordingly. At times, the discussions will go beyond the financial risk domain and may cover some of the other risk areas as well (operational, underwriting, compliance).

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Identifying financial risks that are emerging on our balance sheets

  • Defining the risk strategy, risk limits, and risk appetite for all Aegon NL entities

  • Monitoring compliance with all financial risk policies, and advising policy update working groups

  • Assessing model changes, mainly related to SII and IFRS reporting

  • Reviewing investments plan and hedging strategies

  • Monitoring the performance of the hedging programs

  • Reporting periodically on the financial risk profile of Aegon NL to the Board of Directors of Aegon NL and other internal stakeholders

Technical Development Program 
This position is part of the Technical Development Program, which is a program based on job rotation. Every two years you will switch to a new role in another business unit: Aegon the Netherlands, Aegon Asset Management, Aegon Group and Aegon Bank. These rotations (three times maximum) facilitate your development as a broad professional. Besides these rotations, this program offers you everything to boost your development: 

  • Extended training program (communication, project management and leadership skills) 

  • International assignments 

  • Individual coaching by program coordinators 

The program is an excellent opportunity to build a broad network with your peers and to interact with senior management. All of this prepares you for senior expert and management roles within Aegon.

This is your future position because you:
As a Financial Risk Manager you can analyze complex financial problems. At times, you will need to be persistent to get to the bottom of things, but you may also need to compromise and work towards a solution. You have an excellent sense of relationships, and you enjoy working together with others. Finally, you formulate and substantiate your conclusions carefully and inform senior management accordingly. As you gain more experience, more responsibilities will be delegated to you.  

Furthermore, you have the following qualifications: 

  • Completed Master’s degree in econometrics, physics, mathematics or actuarial science.

  • Approximately 0-2 years of relevant work experience.

  • Affinity with financial markets and products.

  • Excellent knowledge of the English language in speech and writing.

  • You will be earning between € 3.020 and € 5.029,37 based on 40 hours and your experience
