New year, new Kraket board

Vera van der Linden tells about her expectations for next year

Study Year 2019/2020 is almost ending. Board 48 has to make place for a new board which will consist of Ivo Warmerdam, Lia Mendeszoon, Tristan de Keyzer, Amber Politiek, Estée van der Vlies and Vera van der Linden. For the first time a board with 6 members is presented, and moreover it for the first time contains students from the Econometrics and Data Science track. We asked Vera to write something about why she wanted to do a board year, and what her expectations are for the upcoming year.

If every company had at least one econometrician the world would work just a little bit better

My name is Vera van der Linden and I will be one of 6 board members for Kraket in 2020/2021. I grew up in Amsterdam and I love swimming, cooking, good food and numbers. Currently I’m in the second year of my bachelor Econometrics and Data Science. My function is extern coordinator, which means I will be tasked with approaching companies for both formal and informal events with the students of our study association. I applied for this function with the hopes to approach a broader range of companies. If every company had at least one econometrician the world would work just a little bit better and I'm looking forward to finding companies where Kraketters are free to change the world.

My goal for the next year is not only to get Kraket through corona but also to give a meaningful improvement to an already amazing study association

In the following year I hope to focus on Kraket completely, with that in mind I will only be taking two courses. Should time allow it, I aim to use the time towards courses in a slightly different direction.

My goal for the next year is not only to get Kraket through corona but also to give a meaningful improvement to an already amazing study association. Undoubtedly, this year will be different and I might even add, challenging due to the current global pandemic. But I am confident that we will complement each other and use our different skills and experience towards overcoming any challenge the following year will pose.

I look forward to the educational events with our Kraketters and fruitful collaboration with new and old partners.
