The face of the association

Hey! Today I will take you through my week. My name is Tristan Wennink and I am the chairman of the 50th board of our wonderful study association Kraket. In this article, I will take you through the week of March 7 to March 11. During this week I had various activities, appointments and fun tasks that I have been working on as chairman. Let's start!

Monday 7 March

On Mondays I am often early at the VU University, here I go through the agenda of the board meeting and see if I want to add any extra points. Today, I was at the VU at 08:00. I immediately take the time to clean my mailbox and answer a number of emails. Soon after me, Sun came in with the birthday flags for the Kraketroom. We decorated the room together for Denise's birthday. The board meeting starts at 09:00, which I always chair as the chairman. The Lustrum meeting often follows immediately after the board meeting. As supervisor of the committee, together with the chairman of the committee, I keep the committee members on the right track. After the lustrum meeting I had time for a few to do's and lunch. In the meantime, I keep my ears open for questions and comments from my (board) members. In the afternoon I had scheduled two meetings with members about their committee work. Later that afternoon I had a meeting with the University Association Body (UVO). Here, I have contact with various associations and organizations of the VU about various issues. As chairman, you also have the opportunity to establish and maintain contact with people outside Kraket. In the evening I had dinner with Denise in the restaurant and we watched a series together in the Kraket room. Relaxation after a busy day is always good.

Tuesday March 8

On Tuesday I take the time to be present in the Krakt room a little later. This time I had scheduled another active member meeting in the morning. After that I could work freely on different to do's. In the afternoon we had an in-house day at IMC. Mirte and I were present from the board, this meant that in addition to being the chairman, I also included marketing to take pictures. During the in-house day I ensure that I participate actively. But also that I talked to different members, this allows you to find out whether members liked the day and the company. At the end Mirte and I thanked the recruiters of IMC for the day and then went home. After a day of sitting still, I walk a short distance to the train station to get some extra exercise.

Wednesday March 9

The alarm clock always goes early on Wednesday mornings. In addition to the board year, I continued to work at Albert Heijn. This allows me to continue to do all the fun things. At 12:00 I'm done and I go to Amsterdam. At 14:00 I arrived in Amsterdam. I had already received a message from Sun on the way that some equipment still had to be arranged for the auction in the evening. As chairman you are in frequent contact with the university. This allowed me to quickly make a last minute booking for a microphone and sound box. I also made a number of posts for the lustrum week. The auction was supposed to start at 6:00 PM, so eat quickly and get everything ready.

Thursday 10 March

All board members have at least 1 day off from all obligations in the Kraketroom. This allows board members to work from home, relax or exercise. Today I was working from home. I had planned to write all Almanac pieces for the various associations. To work out all conversations with all active members and to write this beautiful sector article. In the meantime, I also take the time to play with the dog or have a chat with my parents.

Friday, March 11

Just like my Wednesdays, my Friday mornings always start early. I start the morning at Albert Heijn. When I'm done with work, I make sure I'm back in the room around 2:00 PM. We have an important meeting with the board at 3:00 PM, but before that, I'll work on our corona policy first. Policy documents are often written by the chairman in collaboration with the board. After this is finished, I have a short chat with Pascalle. Here we discuss how she is doing and if she has run into anything. In the evening we have the old board activity. Just before dinner I take the floor and wish everyone a tasty meal. At the end of the evening I look back on a successful activity.

As you can see, the week of the chairman is very diverse. Every week is different, if you are curious about the chairman function, you can always reach out to me.
